Privacy Policy

Maktab is currently preparing for public beta. We collect information you submit to the waitlist or contact forms, including your name, email address, country, platform preference, subject, and message.

Prayer Times and Qibla can store your chosen city, coordinates, timezone, accuracy, and calculation preferences locally in your browser. Signed-in services may also store these preferences with your account. Location permission is requested only after an action by you. You can clear saved location and local reading data in Settings.

Where the hosting network or an approved location service makes it available, Maktab may derive a city-level estimate from network information to make first-use prayer and Qibla onboarding useful. It is labelled approximate or city-level, is not represented as GPS, never overrides a location you chose, and can be changed or cleared. Maktab does not need to retain the raw IP address as a saved prayer location.

Quran bookmarks, notes, reading history, Dua progress, theme choices, and similar guest preferences may be stored locally on your device. Account-linked versions are stored only when the corresponding signed-in feature is enabled.

Prayer-reminder preferences, browser permission status, notification offsets, Friday reminder times, selected notification tone, and the current reminder schedule are stored locally on your device. Maktab requests notification permission only after you choose to enable it. Website reminders are foreground browser timers and are not represented as guaranteed background delivery. Future mobile apps schedule prayer notifications locally on-device from the validated prayer schedule.

Maktab does not need to retain precise location merely to fire a prayer notification. The saved location and calculation inputs are used to obtain the schedule; the device retains the notification schedule. Browser and mobile operating-system settings—including silent mode, Focus, Do Not Disturb, battery optimization, and notification channels—can override sound, vibration, or delivery. Clearing saved location and prayer data in Settings, and disabling notifications in browser or system settings, removes or prevents future Maktab reminder scheduling on that device.

Questions submitted to Ask Maktab may be processed by the configured server-side AI provider to prepare an answer. Maktab stores operational audit information needed for safety, citation verification, rate limiting, and reliability. Provider secrets are never sent to the browser. Do not submit highly sensitive personal information.

We use technical logs and security controls to prevent abuse and diagnose failures. We do not sell personal information or place advertising around sacred content. Content providers remain governed by their applicable licences and processing terms.

Essential cookies may support secure sessions and preferences. LocalStorage supports guest theme, reading, prayer, location, bookmark, note, and progress preferences. Non-essential analytics or advertising cookies are not described as active unless they are actually enabled; if that changes, Maktab will provide the required notice and choices. Provider processing may occur outside your country under the provider’s applicable terms.

Ask Maktab conversation history is stored only where the corresponding feature is enabled. Security, citation, rate-limit, and audit records may be retained longer than ordinary conversation content where needed to protect users and source integrity. Maktab is not directed specifically to young children; children should use submission features with a parent or guardian where required.
