Methodology and public policies
This page explains Maktab’s actual beta behavior. It does not claim universal scholarly coverage, legal certification, or rights that have not been granted.
Maktab separates exact source text, translation, Tafsir, commentary, reviewed editorial reflection, and AI synthesis. Published editorial content retains its review state and evidence links. A Reflection is never labelled as Tafsir or a religious ruling.
Quran text is stored and rendered from identified approved providers. Maktab does not paraphrase, normalize, generate, or silently repair Quran text. Script, translation, audio, and Tafsir resources remain separately attributed. Missing aligned words or audio remain visibly unavailable.
Every published Hadith must retain its collection and reference. Grade and grading authority appear only when identified in the reviewed record. Planned catalogues are excluded from search and AI evidence until an approved dataset is imported and reviewed.
Ask Maktab retrieves available evidence before generating an explanation, verifies citations, distinguishes evidence classes, and refuses invented Quran or Hadith. It does not issue personalized fatwas or invent consensus. Personal rulings and high-stakes questions require a qualified scholar or relevant professional.
Corrections are evaluated against the identified source, edition, provider record, and review history. Report suspected Quran, translation, Hadith, Dua, attribution, prayer, or accessibility errors to scholars@getmaktab.com or support@getmaktab.com with the permanent Maktab URL.
Source texts, translations, Tafsir, commentary, and audio retain their applicable rights and attribution. Provider access does not imply redistribution rights. Maktab does not scrape publishers that require permission and does not claim a complete catalogue until licensed content has been imported and verified.
Guest preferences normally remain in the browser until cleared. Contact, waitlist, account, AI audit, and security records are retained only for the operational, safety, and legal purposes described in the Privacy Policy. Applicable access or deletion requests may be sent to privacy@getmaktab.com.
Maktab is an educational and worship product for a general audience, not a service directed specifically to young children. A child should use account, contact, or AI submission features with a parent or guardian where required. Do not submit a child's sensitive personal information.
Send suspected vulnerabilities privately to security@getmaktab.com. Do not publicly disclose user data or exploit a vulnerability beyond what is necessary to demonstrate it. Maktab will acknowledge and triage good-faith reports; no bounty is promised unless agreed in writing.
Prayer times, calculated Hijri dates, and Qibla bearings depend on location, method, device, and provider availability. Islamic educational material is not a personalized ruling. Complaints may be sent to contact@getmaktab.com. These beta policies require independent legal review before commercial launch.
